Welcome to SF United Blast!!!

SFU Blast Overview

SF United Blast (Girls 2001) is a National Premier League team and one of the most successful and long-standing competitive girls teams in San Francisco. The Blast players and their head coach, Mario Villega (SF United FC's founder and Director of Coaching) are passionate about soccer and love to compete.  SFU Blast has a diverse and committed group of players, many of whom have been with the club for 5-8 years. The team focuses on player development and competing at the highest possible level, to prepare young women to play in college and beyond.

Players attend San Francisco's top high schools, including Lowell, Mission, Sacred Hearth Cathedral, University, Urban, Lick-Wilmerding, Drew, and Bay. The team currently plays in the National Premier League (NPL), the NorCal State Cup, and showcase tournaments. In spring 2017, SFU Blast earned its place in NPL for the 2017-18 season based on its second place finish in the NorCal State Championship Division -- the first girls team in San Francisco to earn promotion into NPL based on its record!  During the fall 2016 season, Blast was the champion of the U16 Girls State Premier North division with an undefeated record, and finished first in its bracket in the group stage of the NorCal State Cup.

SFU Blast History

SFU Blast formed in early 2010, and the team moved steadily from San Francisco's competitive league (Upper House/CCSL Prep) through the ranks of CYSA/CCSL Coast & Bay (Bronze, Silver, and Gold divisions), winning its division every fall from 2010-2014.  In 2015, Blast moved from CCSL to the NorCal Premier League and was undefeated in the State Premier West Division during the fall season.  In fall 2016, Blast was undefeated again and won the State Premier North division. In spring 2017, the team competed in the State Championship Division, the highest level within the NorCal Premier League, and moved to NPL in the fall of 2017.
In 2015, SF United Blast also won the Force Adidas Premier Showcase (beating several NPL teams) and was a finalist in the Juventus Northern California Spring Showcase.  In both 2015 and 2016, Blast was a finalist in the CV Magic Cup Girls Summer Classic. From September 2012 - January 2014, Blast won 5 consecutive tournaments (the 2012 Golden Gate Invitational, the 2012 Juventus Coppa d'Oro, the 2013 District II Spring Cup, the 2013 Palo Alto Tall Trees Tournament, and the 2014 Cal North Association Cup).  In August 2014, Blast won the Copa Madera tournament, defeating an NPL team in the final game. SFU Blast also was a finalist in the 2014 Cal North Presidents Cup, and was the Cal North wild card team in the Region IV Presidents Cup, reaching the quarterfinals and playing teams from Southern California, Arizona, and Colorado.
